Band Instrument Testing

  • BAND INSTRUMENT TESTING- Parents, if your child will be attending Bumpus next year as a 6th grader, and they are planning to take band, please click on the link below to sign up for a time slot to attend instrument testing with your child on either May 16 or May 23!  Instrument testing will take place on those days from 4PM-7PM in the cafeteria at BGIS.  All rising 6th grade band students are required to undergo our instrument testing process.  Please click here to be directed to the online sign up!  If your child will attend Simmons or Berry, please contact their band directors for information and testing dates.

Sky Zone Spirit Night

Friday, May 11th

Tickets must be purchased at the counter (not online) to go towards Brock’s Gap. 

Unlimited jump 4-7pm for $14

Glow is 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm-one hour is $14, 2 hrs is $20. 

All jumpers must have a completed waiver on file. All jumpers must wear Sky Zone socks. Glow participants need a white or neon shirt.

American Village Field Trip

The Voyagers will be going to American Village on Tuesday, April 17th.  Form and money due Tuesday, April 10th!!  Click HERE if you need to print another copy of the form.


COST: $14.50 per student payable on myschoolfees.com from April 2nd until April 13th, 2018, $14.50 per chaperone
DEPARTURE AND ARRIVAL TIME:  Our team will leave the school at 8:00 a.m. and return at approximately 1:00 p.m.
CLOTHING:  Please have your child dress for the weather.  At the American Village, many of the activities are outdoors on grass and dirt paths.  Ponchos are preferred to umbrellas to make movement easier, should it rain. Students should not bring book bags or any other large items, which may get in the way during some of the activities.
FOOD:  Your child will need a clearly labeled sack lunch and disposable drink.
MEDICAL INFORMATION:  If your child has a special need or medication to take, please notify the school as soon as possible so appropriate arrangements can be made.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES:  Electronic devices and cell phones are NOT ALLOWED.

Yogurt Mountain Fundraising

Hoover Yogurt Mountain 
will be hosting a fundraising event for former 
Hoover student Ben Abercrombie.  Ben suffered a severe spinal cord injury 
last fall. 
This event is scheduled for March 22 from 5-9 pm.
During the event 
Yogurt Mountain will donate 100% of the sales to help the Abercrombie family pay for 
therapy costs.

5K for a Cause

Our Annual 5k for a Cause
Activities: 45 minute 5k (walk or jog with your team for the first part of the day) and 4 Stations: carnival games, Tailgating games, YMCA-led games, and a Yogurt parfait bar

Causes: American Heart Association, YMCA, and BGIS PE.

Date: March 23-IN-SCHOOL ALL DAY!!

Cost: $20-includes a Tshirt, pedometer, a running packet, and an entry in the raffle for the dunking booth.

DEADLINE: March 14th at 11 PM!!!!

There is only 1 week for sign up, but the stakes are extremely high this year!! There will be a dunking booth at the end of the day and the homerooms that have 100% Participation by the deadline-March 14th (only the students that will be in attendance that day) will get a chance to dunk someone.

Spirit Night at Sky Zone

We will be doing a "Brock's Gap Night" at Sky Zone on Friday, February 23rd from 4-10pm.  Anyone that is supporting Brock's Gap must tell them when they check in that they are with Brock's Gap so that we will get credit.  It should  be a fun night!!  Their GLOW Jump is 7-10pm which is so fun for this age group.  We also added in a few hours earlier to help in case families with smaller children wanted to come before it gets too crowded.

Valentine Grams

SCA will be selling Valentinegrams at 7:30 am in the cafeteria February 6th through February 9th.  Send a Valentinegram to all of your friends and teachers.  Valentinegrams will be given out on Valentine’s Day!  They are $1 each.  We are asking that you only pay with bills; no coins will be accepted for payment.

Middle School Transition Night

All of our 5th and 6th graders will be able to visit and tour their newly rezoned middle school on March 19.  You should attend the school you will be zoned for during the 2018-19 school year on this transition night.  More information will come as the date approaches.

Erin's Law

Attention Parents:
To comply with Alabama’s new Erin’s Law, HCS school counselors and administrators have created a plan to provide basic child sexual abuse prevention lessons for students. We have prepared a brief video that outlines plans for elementary, middle and high school levels.
